Given that theatre performance is a physical activity that occurs in a potentially hazardous environment the following guidelines should be observed.
Most accidents result from:
Insufficient knowledge.
When you are unsure of how to proceed, ASK!
Carelessness.
Be alert at all times during rehearsal and performance.
Anything that could impair your alertness is to be avoided.
Taking unnecessary risks.
Running, practical jokes, jumping from one level to another, or any other dangerous activity is not permitted.
Use your common sense:
- Wear appropriate shoes and clothing for rehearsals.
- Warm-up physically and vocally prior to rehearsals and performances.
- Inform the production staff of any condition that might affect your performance.
- Should an accident or injury occur, immediately notify a production staff member.
- Valuable personal property should not be brought to rehearsals or performances.
- Successful theatre productions are a collaborative effort that depend upon everyone doing what they have rehearsed. One person being in the wrong place at the wrong time or doing something unexpected can have disastrous results.
- Each member of the production should engage in safe behavior and encourage others to do so.
Together we can have safe and successful productions.
