Each student seeking a BA in theatre has the option of completing a senior project. This project may take many forms and will be designed to showcase the talents and abilities of the individual student. The project will consist of three parts: a demonstration of the student’s talent or ability, a written discussion and evaluation of the project, and an oral presentation to the theatre faculty. The paper and oral presentation should follow the guidelines detailed in "method two" of the Senior Presentation and if approved will fulfill the senior presentation requirements.
Procedure
During
the second semester of the junior year, each BA candidate who elects to
pursue a senior project shall prepare a proposal for a senior project
and submit the proposal to the theatre faculty. The proposal shall be
prepared in consultation with his/her academic advisor or another member
of the faculty. The proposal is due January 15
of the year preceding the project.
The theatre faculty will determine whether the type of project proposed
is appropriate for the student. In some cases public presentation may
be discouraged. During the course of the preparation of the project, the
student shall meet with a faculty mentor on a regular schedule.
The Senior Project is optional. Students who elect to do a project should sign up for THR 4101. The credit is variable, 0-3 s.h., depending on the work of the project and the number of hours available for the student to count towards completion of their major.
