Derek Gagnier is an acting and voice teacher with interests in both classical and modern works. Prior to teaching at Appalachian State University, Derek taught acting and voice and helped develop the acting programs at Greensboro  College and Old Dominion University. He currently coordinates the Performance Concentration at ASU, and coaches auditions for URTA, SETC and ACTF. Derek has been a professional actor, director and dialect coach for the past 20 years, and still maintains his professional connections, including affiliation with all three professional unions. His career has included work in Shakespeare, Shaw, Simon and Soap Operas, and has taken him to theatres in New York City, New Jersey, and much of North Carolina.
