Regina Gulick–James began her early training in Columbus, Ohio and received her B.A. with an emphasis in Ballet from the University of Akron, studying with Jerry Burr and Marc Ozanich. While finishing her degree, she apprenticed with Ohio Ballet under the direction of Heinz Poll. Her professional performing career extends to Ohio’s Cleveland Opera, Orlando’s Southern Ballet Theatre, Massachusetts’s Berkshire Ballet, Arizona’s Orts Theatre of Dance and 10th Street Danceworks. Since 1996, Regina has been an adjunct faculty member with Appalachian State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance and teaches classes in Ballet, Modern, Pointe, and Floor Barre. Regina choreographs for Appalachian Dance Ensemble and the Hayes School of Music. This past summer she coordinated an outreach dance series offering free classes in all kinds of dance styles with many guest teachers and participating dancers of all ages.
