Martha A. Marking has been at Appalachian since 1987. She has designed costumes at the Utah Shakespearean Festival for seven years and was a cutter/draper at USF for three years. Other professional credits include the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and the Blowing Rock Stage Company. She is currently on the Board of Directors of USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) and was Chair of the Southeast Section for a number of years. She has co-authored an article entitled “Chain Mail Techniques from the Utah Shakespearean Festival” and has written an article on "Costume Shop Facilities" as well as many book reviews for TD&T. She has served on several university committees including chairing the Faculty Senate, the Faculty Grievance Hearing Committee and the Academic Policies and Procedures Committee and received a Board of Governor's College Teaching Award in 2007.
