Overview:
The Theatre Education Licensure program offers certification
to teach theatre in the public schools. This program is based on the BS
Theatre Ed. degree and is for current teachers, or students that have
a degree in another area and would like to teach. Upon application, the
chair and the Theatre Education faculty review the student transcript
and decide which classes transfer from previous training, and which experiences
count toward the degree. A custom set of classes is designed to help the
candidate become licensed to teach theatre.

Core Requirements:
This special licensure option is based upon the classes you've taken in the past. Your transcript will be compared to the requirements for the BS in Teaching Theatre degree. In most cases, the core from another university will transfer to ASU. We recommend that you come to the Department as soon as you can to get involved. You do not have to be a declared major to participate in our productions.
Other Requirements:
You will meet with an advisor at least once a semester. This is an informal
time to plan your classes and talk about your experience at ASU. Additional
advisor visits are optional. During your junior year there is an interview
to make sure you are on a successful path. This is to explore career options
and short and long-term goals.
